Warehousing & Distribution Quick Studies
Opportunity 1
Major manufacturer of electronic equipment must downsize Parts storage space in order to increase size of manufacturing operations to meet new demand.
Solution 1
Griffin meets with the manufacturer and offers a Vendor Managed Inventory Solution. Griffin immediately contacts vendors and sets up inbound deliveries to our warehouse. Multi-vendor inventory is managed to meet manufacturer MRP requirements. Griffin consolidates deliveries to vendor’s manufacturing line, further reducing handling and transport costs to all parties. The manufacturer now has more space for their core business of manufacturing not warehousing. Cost savings are shared by manufacturer and vendors.
Opportunity 2
Electronic manufacturer of retail cash machines, ATMs, and network equipment needs staging location for return used equipment. The equipment needs to be de-installed, categorized, stored, and kitted, then deployed to refurbish/repair centers. Special needs include on site personnel of the manufacturer, as well facilities for testing & de-install.
Solution 2
Griffin sets up a designated area of space requested by the manufacturer. Griffin supplies staffing as needed from the request for daily processing of orders. Manufacturer and Griffin team work side by side, to process equipment for Staging and deployment. When repair facility is ready the equipment is pulled from inventory and ships to the designated repair facility. This program has achieved noted productivity gains for manufacturer in asset repair, refurbishment, and redeployment.
Opportunity 3
Consumer electronics manufacturer/importer seeks to centralize West Coast distribution to Wal-Mart stores. Distribution requires RFID tag generation and information transmission.
Solution 3
Griffin meets with manufacturer and offers solution to provide transportation from Asia with full web PO visibility. Goods are to be landed in Reno, NV enabling distribution to all Wal-Mart locations west of Denver within 48 hours. Wal-Mart orders are placed weekly via EDI. Orders are pulled, staged and RFID tagged. Orders are then dispatched to carriers per Wal-Mart requirements, meeting normal delivery and data transmission requirements, as well as periodic resets as requested by Wal-Mart.
